It is great to see the interest in this segment of the shooting sports. We actually had 38 shooting slots (some folks shooting 2 firearms) so it did make things run a little long. Back some time ago we shot every Sunday and Monday evening. People did get "burnt" and attendance started to fall. Now it is a matter of time and manpower. When the Spring/Summer 2010 schedule comes out, we may add some additional matches (say on a fith Sunday). It will be nice to get outside again:-)
Gladd to hear you enjoyed the shoot. Hope to see you at the next one.

Any chance in adding a newbie shoot? Maybe a shhot were just new plate shooters can come and learn about the rules and such without the nervous feeling of being around veteran shooters

You really need to just come down and talk to these guys they are great. I have only been to 3 steel shoots but everyone is very willing to help and show me the ropes. If you want to being a newbie as a'm I we should get together and I could intoduce you to it. But honestly the RO as well as the other veteran wont bite your head off for telling them your new. They want you to do that and be safe and have FUN doing it.We need new people in the sport and by watching the guys doing it in 15sec you learn. If you have a question just ask they really are a great bunch of guys.Heck I can do it that fast to after I shoot about 25000 mor rounds  Take a chance and introduce yourself you wont be sorry, you'll probably be better that you think.

They're all newbie shoots. Really. I agree that it can be intimidating, but that doesn't last past the first shot.
Related question, though: does the club have appropriate loaner guns for this sort of thing? (Not for me, just wondering in general.)

We all were "noobs" at some point. (some would say we still are). It is best just to come out and try it. MRA shoots are as competitive as you want them to be. As Scott said, we encourage people to come out and ask lots of questions, be safe, and most of all have fun.
To answer amb's question....We do not have "loaner" firearms available. That is the short answer. However, some experienced shooters might be willing to let someone try their firearm, for a small rental fee of course

We will usually pair a new shooter with an experienced shooter for exactly the reasons you bring up. Puts new shooters in a more relaxed state, and they can ask as many questions as they are willing to.
