A number of MRA members have recently purchased one of ATI's GSG-5 varients (based on what I've seen on our ranges).
One of the MRA members forwarded the following to me:

The tech person from GSG posted an update regarding the Shroud recall and replacement. It appears that its going to take some time.

Below is a conversation from the AR15 form, where ATI responds to questions. It is at the bottom of page 4.

I've talked to two gun stores and one said of they get any shrouds back they will instantly destroy them since they cannot be in possession of a NFA item.
This bothers me a bit to be honest. These dealers should call me so I can explain the meaning of amnesty to them. The ATFs main concern right now is to account for as many of these as they can. Although the fake suppressor is now an NFA item, anyone who has one now while the amnesty is in effect is in no danger. If your dealers collect the cans and destroy them, we cannot replace them with the new ones for you, because it's an even swap. So, if you take your suppressor to a dealer and he ignores the instructions set up (and the letter we're generating for every dealer who bought an SD from our distributors) I sure hope that these dealers are willing to pay the $25.00 to replace your shroud for you. This whole thing is going to take some time for sure, that's why no end date for the amnesty has been enacted yet by ATF. Over the next few weeks we will be processing the paper document situation. We've already gotten our distributors set, next up is the thousands of dealer letters to be mailed. But one thing to understand is that yes, this whole thing sucks but the ATF understands a) how many of these there are out there and B) that it is more important to account for as many cans as possible, not how many people they can arrest or fine....
but once their amnesty ends, i assume the gloves will be off.
if you find a dealer who says they're going to destroy the fake suppressor because 'they aren't allowed to have it,' tell them to call me. If they pitch a fit or preach that they know what the situation is or whatever, remember me and the fact that I'm sitting square in the middle of this as the importer & the consumer connection and that at a moments notice I can walk into the warehouse and grab an ATF agent. (between 10am & 3pm Mon- Thur that is). If a dealer is going to be the reason you don't get your free and newly approved replacement and they won't help please contact us directly at:

If I have to replace every g**damn one of these with each user myself I will, don't let anyone out there who doesn't understand the meaning of amnesty prevent you from getting what is rightfully yours for purchasing a GSG-5SD. Man, I see now that that infuriates me.
Also, what if the ATF changes its mind and does not let ATI import the new shroud?????
Well, I am fully approved to import the replacements over the next 12 months. I seriously hope they wouldn't change their mind again considering they gave us a drawing of how it was to be built, we did it, sent it back to the guy who originally did the GSG approval and they approved it. I'll see if I can get that document up here at least, not sure if I'm allowed though. I'll check.
The website says the replacements will arrive in mid February...are there any on hand right now? I would rather ship mine out knowing the turn around would be fairly quick.
Our first shipment is being picked up from customs and delivered here today. The manufacturer in Germany is making as many as possible and we will continue a steady stream of them as much as we can until we've imported the total quantity but I'll say it again, we can't guarentee a turn around time right now. I know it blows but I recommend just biting the bullet and sending your cans because they're already rolling in and replacements are first come first serve.
(me)We cannot replace a fake shroud with out the original being accounted for by ATF. .
(you)Oh? How is that? I can't recall any laws to that effect.
Not to give you a hard time, ATI is doing a fabulous service that must cost a fortune, all because of some DF at ATF.
But please don't feed us ATF crap that they make up.
What do you want me to tell you? I have two agents here physically accounting for the situation. literally, they are going to be physically handling the cans and putting them in the boxes for export. These aren't our rules, we did not decide how this all is to be executed. It was set up by ATF. I'm sorry there's no law. All I can do is refer you to the NFA division of the ATF to register your complaint, my hands are tied.
Respectful suggestion to ATI- Contact your distributors, have them do a computer search on what gun stores
were shipped SD models, and alert them. State clear expectations ie) Ship cans back by XXXX date, and contact
us for shipping information.
All part of the plan, I have distributor dispositions rolling in but we were pressed to go live earlier than we were ready to because of the who ATF field agent FFL audit situation, as you all saw on here about 2 weeks before I was able to throw anything up here. Nothing happens over night, but we'll stick with it until it's done
