Greetings MRA Members,
Welcome to the newest section of the MRA Forum.
If you've ever wondered how you could get involved a bit more to help our club be the best that it can, here is a section dedicated to one of the club's most valuable resources - our volunteers. Beyond the occasional "work day" there are issues of basic maintenance or special projects that members can become part of to help out and make the club a better place for all.
Stay tuned to stay involved for various volunteer opportunities.
Thanks,
Bob

I have not been available for Work Day and shoot off hours. I would love to start getting involved with the Club.
What particular tools, (plenty available) should I bring to Work Day?
Does anyone know of any projects planned for Work Day?
Is there a point of contact for WD? OR Onging projects?
I tried reaching the office many times tonight and the phone had extreme static which I am assuming was due to the water.
Any replies would be great.
Thanks,
Matt

First of all thank you for the consideration of volunteering your time. Volunteers makes a club like the MRA a stronger organization. Sure, paying your dues makes you a member but participating in tasks that keep the club functional and accessible to all members makes you better member.
Currently the tasks for work day are still being planned. Generally, those tasks involve basic club maintenance. Things like cleaning, painting, range clean up, some basic carpentry and general outdoor spring clean up tasks. As for tasks that can completed outside of the work day, there is on-going work that needs to be completed for each range. I would like to suggest that members volunteer to adopt a range and perform tasks to keep the ranges functional. Tasks such as general cleanup to include sweeping that range and emptying the trash, replacing target holders and target transport strings and raking the berms. Those tasks are performed now by volunteers but not at the frequency they should be performed. The more the ranges are used the more these tasks need to me performed. Soon each range will have a posted list of tasks that should be performed on a weekly basis. If you'd like to help then choose and complete one of those tasks. In fact, to get more members involved ask another member at the range when your there to help complete a task.
If you're unable to attend work day then stop by the office and talk to one of the volunteers in the office about the current list of tasks. And, we do have a volunteer book that that is used to keep track of member's work time. Also, as time allows I do monitor an email address that can be used to correspond directly about tasks. It is MRAprojects@yahoo.com.
In addition, as part of organizing these tasks, each Sunday that the office is open I will set aside 11AM as the time for volunteers to stop by and learn to how to perform some of the most frequently needed tasks. Tasks like replacing target strings on the Loeb range, building target frames for the Pope rage and maintaining the range berms.
And, as to what to bring in the way of tools for work day, for now just bring gloves.
If you have any questions or suggestions please do not hesitate to contact me.
thank you

Hi Paul,
That's generous of you - You may want to stop by the club office during office hours and talk to the folks there about volunteering.
Or send BobR or Bob C a PM.
Thanks.
